Entering Freshman Academic Scholarships
The University of Montevallo has waived the ACT/SAT test score requirement for admission and scholarships. Students who do not submit ACT/SAT scores will not be disadvantaged in the application or scholarship review process.
Academic scholarships are awarded based on the student’s superscored ACT or SAT (optional) and/or high school GPA. Entering freshmen must submit an application for admission to the University along with an official high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores by the February 1 priority deadline for consideration. After the priority date, scholarships are awarded on a funds available basis. Most scholarships are renewable for three additional years with a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA at UM along with maintaining full time status (12 hours/semester).
The information listed below is in effect beginning with the 2021-2022 academic year. For scholarship information concerning current scholarship recipients, please refer to your scholarship award letter or contact the Office of Admissions.

Applicants should submit a resume, two letters of recommendation and application. Scholarships will be awarded based upon interviews granted to a select group of applicants. This scholarship is renewable with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA at UM along with maintaining full time status (12 hours/semester).
Deadline for the M.A.P.S. Scholarship: January 15
Out-of-State Scholarship
Non-resident students awarded a UM-funded scholarship based on a particular talent or ability may also receive the Out-of-State Scholarship. The award is valued at approximately $13,000 per year and puts the non-resident student at the in-state tuition rate. The Out of State Scholarship is renewable as long as the student meets the renewal criteria of the merit scholarship awarded.
Pursuant to Alabama Code 16-64-2(b)(3) and Policy 03:100, resident tuition rates may apply to those full-time, undergraduate non-resident students receiving a partial or full scholarship award in recognition of a particular talent or ability, provided such student possessed the talent or ability at the time of initial enrollment and maintains continuous scholarship eligibility at UM.
